IN CHARACTER

NAME: Liam Ferohn-Gau
CANON: Gods Will Be Watching
CANONPOINT: The DLC ending, after he kills Abraham at the top of the mountain, sending him back in time.
HISTORY: The wiki doesn't summarize the DLC, which is what I am taking him from. So, as brief as I can make it: A long time ago, Liam was a young revolutionary. Though he was human himself, Liam liberated aliens from enslavement by the human race: at first peacefully, but eventually destroying anyone who stood in his way. In one possible future – that is, in another timeline- Liam continued this trajectory, mustering all of the forces of the galaxy against the human race; the commander of a fleet of warships fighting for freedom – a universe without the oppressive nature of humans.

But that is not the timeline this version of him lives in. Twenty years ago, his violent revolution reached a peak when he proposed the genocide of the human race as an answer to alien slavery. It was then that he was betrayed by his beloved second-in-command, Sergeant Abraham Burden; an immortal time-traveller sent by secret powers who could foresee the forever-war Liam was about to set into motion. Abraham destroyed Liam’s warship and ended the revolution, extinguishing the last hope against alien slavery. Abraham then leapt from the ship to his apparent death, horrified into suicide for siding against aliens, but not willing to allow innocent humans to pay for crimes of the human government. Aliens eventually went extinct due to human brutality, and lower-class humans replaced them in the slavery food chain. For twenty years, Liam hid, lived a “normal” life, and thought of nothing but revenge. After many years of searching, he learned that Abraham’s “death” had not been final - Abraham could not truly die, and it was possible to open the gates of the multiverse itself to retrieve him… and force him to travel back in time and give him the future he desired.

So, he did. He ascended a mountain into the realm of the Gods at the end of the universe, and pulled Abraham from his resting place. He told Abraham that trillions of humans now lived a life of endless enslavement while a small number of slavers profited off of their suffering, and that if Abraham went back in time, he could let Liam finish the revolution and create a better future – not only for aliens, but for humans, too. Abraham was then forcibly sent into the past to ensure that Liam succeeded and that his future as a fleet commander came true.

But the Liam of the failed timeline was stranded on that mountain; Liam himself could not travel through time, and he would not get to re-live the past. He died there, succumbing to the elements, satisfied that a future would exist in the multiverse where he would win.

He couldn’t know that the Liam of the other timeline, the Liam who won the revolution, would go on to regret his role in genocide… and will spend 20 years of his life trying to find Abraham and make him go back in time to stop him. And this is where the series concludes.

PERSONALITY: I re-used some of this section from a previous app, but hopefully it contains what you are looking for.

Externally, Liam is described as an "energetic, wild, and indominable force"; a trait he retains into middle age. He is a charismatic speaker who exudes effortless confidence, and is capable of finding and bringing out the best qualities in the men and women around him. He has a sharp sense of humour, and tends to literally laugh off difficult situations until they cannot be ignored. When things get serious, however, Liam becomes deathly so. He is very easily upset by injustice and violence, and can't stand to witness it without acting to protect the person affected, often to the detriment of his own safety. His anger runs cold, manifesting as joking insults at best, and carefully calculated violence at worst.

Liam is extremely ambitious. As a result, he is very stubborn and bull-headed, refusing to back down from his goals. He is a thrillseeker and adrenaline junkie who puts himself in danger for the fun of it, and has no regard for his own personal safety. He has an obsessive personality that makes him hyperfocused on his goals and his relationships.

He is something of a narcissist, and loves being loved. He has delusions of great self-importance, desiring to die in such a fashion that history will remember him. Interpersonally, Liam is viciously loyal, and cares deeply about the people in his circle - expecting the same level of devotion in return. This means that he interprets any slight against him as a fierce betrayal. Liam is somewhat flirty, even at inappropriate times, which may tie in to his narcissistic and obsessive nature; he needs the people around him to be close to him, and to love him.

Privately, Liam harbours a great deal of doubt and self-loathing. He remarks to himself that he is not a person worthy of respect, and secretly believes that his life has been worthless. He secretly worries that his goal to eliminate slavery arose not out of genuine empathy but as a desire to have fun and to be thought of as "cool," which is not entirely true. His friend Sarah, who is a psychiatrist, believes that Liam is privately suffering from depression, as he has deeply repressed his trauma over killing millions of humans in his youth to the point of feeling neither grief nor joy.

Finally, Liam is easily frustrated and discouraged. Note that this is irrespective of his stubborn nature: while Liam never backs down, he finds himself escalating his methods quickly, as he is easily disappointed by a lack of results and finds himself scrambling to save face. In spite of his repeated, outward assurances that what he is doing is right, when the chips are down, this facade falls apart and Liam finds himself asking whether or not he is doing the right thing. He is filled with intense regret, and wonders if he has truly changed the universe for the better as he originally set out to do.

ABILITIES:

-Liam is a cyborg, and has an implant in his brain which allows him to interface with technology via a cable. (However, while the world Liam lives in is a cyperpunk dystopia, it is also extremely retro - think along the lines of the original Alien, or Alien Isolation. I'm fine if Liam isn't able to plug himself in to modern tech.) He is able to hack quickly and efficiently, and is capable of uploading and saving information directly into his brain. However, if the information he is trying to access is corrupted or has a firewall, he experiences severe pain and seizure. He has very limited awareness of the "real world" while he is interfaced with tech.

-Liam is an accomplished martial artist, having studied alien martial arts for much of his adult life. Abraham refers to Liam as a "great warrior" whom he could only beat after millions of years of time loops. However, when assessing whether he is able to survive climbing the mountain, Liam notes that he is in good enough shape to manage it, but his stamina and strength is greatly outmatched by another member of his party- a soldier of 60+ years- so Liam isn't superhuman by any means. It is likely his combat ability was bolstered by the battlesuit technology he used in his youth, which he does not have at his pull point.

MISC.

NAVIGATOR: Rhys
SUITABILITY: Simply put, Liam will feel right at home on the battleship Lethe, as it will be quite similar to his old warship "Matriarch." Since the Matriarch was destroyed, Liam has travelled quietly from place to place in a dingy ship to avoid capture from the authorities. Travelling the universe in search of adventure, while also eluding potential arrest, would be the ideal retirement after a lifetime of struggle. He loathes staying in one place, and has no desire to 'go home' - the entire galaxy is his home, and he would be content to travel the stars forever. While it's been acknowledged that "going home" isn't going to happen to the crew of the Lethe, Liam would actively avoid any opportunity to return to any planets that are familiar to him.

Liam can certainly take care of himself. Though considerably older, now, than he was in his revolutionary days, Liam is still an accomplished martial artist. He knows how to handle a gun, a sword, and a shield, even if his skills are somewhat rusty relative to his soldier friends.

He is also a reliable teammate. While Liam is a natural leader, he no longer desires to outshine those around him. He is happy to help foster leadership in others - though if he ended up winning the respect of those around him, he would not turn down the opportunity to lead.

ITEMS:
-Clothing: White turtleneck, thigh-length coat, black pants, holsters (one on chest, one on thigh), belt, waterproof fur-lined boots.
-Neuroimplant (soldered to head)
-If weapons are allowed: 1 laser pistol with 4 rounds. If there ends up being no way for him to refill his ammo, I'm fine with that.
-Abraham's leather-bound diary: A half-filled paper journal (no pen or ink.)
